Smith Memorial Student Union is?your couch on the Portland State University campus. Smith provides a place for the campus community to come together. It houses?a diverse selection of?programs, services, ideas, and engagement that enrich?our social, cultural, and educational environment.

?Smith Memorial Student Union is open for the PSU community at SW Broadway and Harrison in Portland. Students, faculty and employees are welcome to drop by for study space, University Market, Info Hub, snacks, coffee and other amenities.

ENTRANCES: Campus access is through electronic control card readers. Swipe your PSU ID to enter at any entrance. Don't have a PSU ID card? Students and staff can get them at the ID desk in the lobby of Fariborz Maseeh Hall (enter on the Park Blocks).

ADA access is available during building hours at the Broadway entrance, the entrance on the north side between Cramer and Smith, and through the third-floor skybridges that connect to Fariborz Maseeh Hall, Karl Miller Center, Parking Structure 1 and Parking Structure 2.

LOCKER RENTALS:?Locker renewal and new locker rentals are available in Cramer and FMH. Review information at the?locker rentals?webpage or ask at the Info Hub in the Broadway lobby of Smith.

MEETING SPACES: Meeting rooms, campus spaces, the Smith Ballroom and the Viking Pavilion at the Peter W. Stott Center are available on campus for qualified PSU departments, groups and organizations. External entities, such as conferences and corporate events, now can submit a request to use campus meeting space. Use the PSU facility use inquiry form to learn more. PSU FOOD PANTRY IN SMITH: The PSU Food Pantry is?located in Smith 047A. That's in the basement just down the hall from the Viking Gameroom bowling alley. The resource is available to all students and the PSU community. Get updates on the food pantry's Instagram account. You can make an appointment in advance at their webpage.

GAMEROOM BOWLING: The Viking Gameroom is open noon to 6 p.m. M-F for pool, foosball and video gaming. Check the Gameroom webpage for information on party reservations at other times.

PSU PRINTER: You can print your documents from the PSU network at the printer in the University Market (7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. M-Th, til 5 p.m. F). Queue your document online, scan your ID and print. Students and staff get 500 page credits a term. Learn more.

CENTERS HOUSED IN SMITH ARE OPEN:?PSU?resource and cultural centers located in Smith are operating at this time. Some have open hours, some are appointment only. Centers that provide counseling, legal or support resources are offering those services but we recommend you check the centers' websites or social media before dropping in. HELP IS AVAILABLE.?

VETERANS RESOURCE CENTER: The Portland State University Veterans Resource Center is now located in Smith 018, in the basement level near the Mezzanine elevator and tunnel to Cramer Hall.

STUDY LOUNGES: Zero 26 — a study lounge with lots of seating, study carrels and microwave — is open in the basement of Smith. You'll find it in the southeast corner of the basement, near the stairs to the sub-basement and the tunnel to FMH. (If you take the elevators from the ground floor, it's just to the right when you get out.) Study areas in the second-floor lounge, dining halls and Smith 401 (near the skybridge from Cramer) are open during building hours. Parkway North is open for study space unless an event is taking place.

PRIVATE STUDY ROOMS IN SMITH:?A limited-number of rooms for individual or small group study can be reserved for a three-hour maximum weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. (summer 2023). Rooms must be booked on the day of use. You can request a room at (503) 725-2663, at the Campus Events & Student Union office, Smith 119, off the Broadway lobby.

EVENT SCHEDULING AND CLASSIFICATION CHANGES:?A PSU department or group can partner with a non-PSU organization to help bring an event to campus. Contact the Campus Events & Student Union staff for more information on this new classification. Review the?classifications and?2021-22?meeting space rental rates?online.?
